Gezzer Ortega, MD, MPH is a patient-centered physician with a focus on providing optimal care to all patients. Dr. Ortega serves as Medical Director of Jivana Care and is junior faculty at the Center for Surgery and Public Health, Brigham and Women’s Hospital/ Harvard Medical School overseeing surgical disparities research.

He recently served as the Senior Research Associate within the Clive O. Callender Howard-Harvard Health Sciences Outcomes Research Center at Howard University College of Medicine (HUCM). He obtained his medical degree from HUCM, a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and his Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University. Research, mentoring, and service are at the core of Dr. Ortega’s endeavors.

Dr. Ortega has collaborated with research groups focused on providing equitable care and as a result, has published many original articles and presented at national meetings. As a physician-scientist his focus is to contribute to the field of medicine and eliminate health disparities through research and humanitarian efforts. His hobbies include sports, traveling, and music.



Dr. Subash Duggirala is a highly skilled physician with vast clinical and management experience. He has practiced as a physician in Primary Care, Occupational Medicine, Pain Management and Cosmetic Medicine for more than 25 years. Dr. Duggirala completed medical school at S.C.B Medical College and then continued his education to earn a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from University of Washington, Seattle. He then completed two residency programs at the University of Washington, Seattle in Preventive Medicine and Family and Community Medicine in BHU. In addition, Dr. Duggirala has completed specialty board certifications in Preventive Medicine, Pain Management, and Quality Management.

In his professional career, Dr. Duggirala also worked as a Physician Advisor for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for more than 12 years reporting on topics such as Clinical Care Quality, Clinical care Review, Disease Management, Utilization Review, Medical Staff Affairs and, Health Policy & Benefits Management.


Ann Ruffalo

Ann Ruffalo “Annie” is a Physician Assistant with experience in Internal Medicine and Urgent Care who is a transplant from the Midwest. She did her undergraduate work at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa before obtaining a Masters in Microbiology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She completed the Physician Assistant program at the University of Iowa in 2010, and between 2010 to 2014, she took care of patients in Ottumwa, Iowa. In 2015 she moved to the Silver Spring, Maryland area and began practicing in Internal Medicine and Urgent Care.
Her interests include chronic conditions like Diabetes and Hypertension as well as culturally competent LGBT care.  She is excited to join the Jivana Care team.
